This weekend was sunny and cheery, yay for us. Jon was very busy finishing up his ladders and completing the epic mountain bike garden track. So busy he didn't even have time to ride it, actually i think all the digging wore him out to be fair. We had an awesome fire on Saturday nite, and I did play around with me fire poi, it was well wicked. Debbie and Bennie and their son Lewis came over for a beer, and we ended up taking a beautiful hike with them Sunday afternoon.
It was great weather for it, and we took all 3 of the dogs, their two, and ours. Leiko was chuffed to bits to see her sister Kobi, and we let her off the leash, her grin could not have been any bigger. They chased pheasants and goats, and ended up taking the backwards route to the car, leaving the rest of us sitting like eedjits at the bottom of the trail waiting for them to show up. Jon eventually backtracked and found the pair of them waiting for us at the cars! After this spot of adventure we took the chance to investigate the abandoned and derelict amusement park on the hill top. It was super spooky, and well worth a couple of shots. The story goes that it was a popular destination, until a young girl was tragically killed on one of the rides. The poor family received no compensation, but the park was shut down. It's as if everything was left exactly as it had been on that fateful day, one of the rollercoasters is hanging off the rails, and weeds and vines have taken over the amusements.
I tried to make a foccacio over the weekend, and whilst it was certainly tasty, I was disappointed with the over all outcome. I'm convinced it may have something to do with the flour quality. It has a picture of a loaf on the bag, but as all the writing is in Korean, I'm not convinced that the contents are indeed strong bread flour. Somebody has mentioned that it may be possible purchase bread flour from the baker at the Admiral Hotel, I must investigate this further. Making bread rocks!
The start of the week was dismal. I cannot believe that it's supposed to be sunny and clear in the winter months. We have for sure seen our fair share of storm clouds. Midweek now and its has been mostly blue today. I am so in love with the sunshine, maybe because the Sun is my ruling planet, maybe as I was born in the sunny south. Perhaps it's just the way it is. Hopefully summer will arrive soon, I cannot wait to be all roasty and toasty and fine.
